Twilight Camp Day 3...

Cowboy obstacles and fire.  The scouts were thrilled.  There were plenty of smiles and laughing as they gathered fake cow patties, low crawled and roped the steer.  Building a fire was a great way to end the day.
Gathering prairie fuel for the pretend fire.

Low crawling.

Roping that steer.

Using flint and cotton.

Tending the fire.

Twilight Camp Day 2...

We've struck it rich!  That's part of our den cheer this year and the boys loved panning for fools gold and stones.  The professor was a panning machine.  He found so much fools gold and soooo quickly.  I think I need to take him North and put him to work.  He's always had an eagle eye.
Pie Plate Panning

Woo Hoo, if only it was the real thing.  He found this all in about 10 minutes.  He only got to keep one piece though.  Have to leave some for the other scouts.

To keep one stone you must identify it
We also did some woodworking.  He built a folding table.

Twilight Camp Day 1...

Twilight Cub Scout Camp kicked off to a great start last night.  I'm leading a group of Webelos and they are awesome.  A big difference from leading a den of Wolves last year.  The Professor is in my group as well as some other scouts from our Pack.  It's nice to already know someone when a new group is formed.

Summer Ice...

School is out for summer at our house and we did a lot of fun things this week to celebrate.
Today we had some friends over and the kids played some roller blading hockey tag.  (I'm not sure of the rules but they had fun.)  We went to the movies and viewed Cars 2 in 3D.   Seeing a 3D movie was a first for all of us.  Most of us agreed it wasn't worth it.  Not that we didn't like the movie we just felt the 3D hype didn't deliver.

A few days ago we visited the Sportsplex and did some ice skating.  The community skate times are pretty affordable and everyone seems to enjoy it.

Seeing the Sights in India...

Here are some pictures of Josh's time seeing the sights.
On the beach near the hotel.

 Visiting the monuments at Mamallapuram.

The monuments fall under four different categories; rock-cut cave, monolithic free standing temples, bas-reliefs and structural temples.
I love the traditional outfits Indian women wear.  No matter the body type the women always look fabulous.  I wish I had clothes like that.

And that concludes our look at Chennai, India.

India Gifts...

Here are some of the items Josh brought back from India.
Two of these stone boxes came home.  One for each Grandmother.

This stone carved box is for me.   The 100 Rupees are worth about 2 dollars.

Tea

A cute wood carved elephant.

A wood carving of one of the India gods - I think.  Good for teaching purposes.

This was a gift to my husband from the company they visited.  Another teaching piece.

Shell necklace given to guests of the hotel when they arrived.

His India Trip...

This is the weekend Hotel that many business people stay in if they arrive in Chennai on the weekend.  Josh and his friends from work were able to stay here two nights and get acclimated before starting a very busy work week in Chennai and Bangalore.

The Radisson Blu Hotel boasts the largest pool in all of India.  It is pretty. In fact, the stark difference between outside the hotel gates and inside the hotel gates caught Josh's attention right away.  That's the focus of this post.

Now let's peak outside the gates...

And back to the Hotel.

He is Home...

My favorite person has been on the other side of the Earth for a whole week and tonight he is home and safely tucked into bed and sleeping.  Aaaaaaahhhhhhh.  I can breath again.  My dear husband has been to India and back.  His work took him to Chennai India, formerly Madras.  It's on the South Eastern coast of India.

It takes 24 hours of travel to get from here to there.  Now days, a person can track any flight in real time on the internet.  Kinda cool except... the website I used can't track the plane over Greenland or most of the Atlantic.  Also, it tracks speed and altitude and I nearly freaked out on his way over there because somewhere over Canada his plane descended a thousand feet and waaayyy too fast for my comfort zone.  So, as he made his way home I checked the flight status very little... for my own sanity.
When he called around noon today I answered the phone and said "Welcome home honey!"  He replied and said "I'm in Calgary.  I thought I better call you and let you know we've been diverted due to electrical problems and I thought you would be worried when you saw the plane descend over Canada."
Isn't he the sweetest!  Thankfully I wasn't watching the computer and tracking the flight at that time.  I might have had a stroke.  All in all, he was only about 5 hours late getting home.  I plan to share some of the pictures he took and items he brought home over the next few days.  Oh and one more bit of info, he got a big hug from me for checking my blog in India and giving my stats 10 hits from India.  Yay!

Here he is sight seeing.

Here the boys are running to greet the Airporter shuttle.

It was late so they are in pajamas.

So happy to have you home Papa.
