May Sailing Trip ...Part 5

Our trip is coming to an end.  We spend our second to last night at Ganges Marina on Saltspring Island, BC.

We find great island stores and some much needed propane.

Our final night is spent in Winter Cove on the Northern Tip of Saturna Island.  It's a tricky spot to get to but the water was calm and smooth.  Just what you want when anchoring out.
Silly boys before bed time.

More silliness.

Peacefulness.

May Sailing Trip ...Part 4

If you thinking... will these posts about her trip ever end?  They will soon.  I think I have enough pictures for 2 more, that includes this one.

So, the main reason we took a trip before school let out was to beat the crowds.  See the boat on the mid left?  That's us.  In a couple more weeks these slips will be packed.

Staying here on a Tuesday helped too.  The kids enjoyed the pool with two other kids.  When we ate in the restaurant we were the only ones and we were the only ones on the beach too.  It was nice.

HELP! The sun is out.  We need sun glasses!

May Sailing Trip ...Part 3

We loved seeing these geese during the two days we stayed in Poet's Cove.

May Sailing Trip ... Part 2

On our second day we headed into Canadian waters.  We checked in at Poet's Cove in Bedwell Harbor on Pender Island.  The first night we anchored out and the second night we payed for a guest slip.

Exploring a new place is so exciting when traveling through the islands.  The boys had never been here and for me it had been 12 years.

Many things change in a decade.  For example, now there is an awesome pool!
The weather was perfect for swimming at 2 in the afternoon.

The Professor had strict instructions not to swim but he could have fun in the pool.  Consequently, he acquired a blister on the bottom of his big toe from walking on the bottom of the pool.

And of course free Wi Fi is a beautiful thing.

May Sailing Trip ... Part 1

Last Sunday, after church, we packed up the car, drove to my Mom's boat and loaded enough food and clothes on board for six people spending 6 nights out at sea.
The days leading up to such a trip get a little crazy.  There is simply no room for error.  (in my mind)  Everything has to be planned, packed and provisioned.  But once we step on the boat all is good and I'm on vacation.
DAY ONE - A great day to be on the water.

The water is perfect and it's a great day to set out.

 What do you see?

 A cool, big, cargo ship.

DAY TWO - It's Monday and we do some school on the boat.
 Math

 Reading

Science (I really thought something gooey was inside
those things. I was wrong.)

Little one here is playing a game to practice ordinals.  Which team will
come in first, second and third.

Free Wi Fi and life is good...

I'm up really early this morning so I can get a shower in at the marina.  We've been sailing with my Mom the past 4 days.  Most of the time we don't have online access unless we get to a marina with free Wi Fi like today.  So, I'm taking a moment to check back into the blogging world and leave a post.  At the moment I only have access to old pictures from my Mom's laptop so I'm posting some past pictures of the boys in no particular order.

Jumping for Joy...

Piano lessons ended today and the recital is tonight.  We all truly enjoy going to piano lessons because there is always something to do when it's not your turn at the piano.

During the cold winter months there is time to play with Lego.  Sometimes  a new kitten is at the house (this has happened 3 times.)  Sometimes we find out that the cat has died (also happened 3 times.) .  Once the cows were being butchered and last year the dog had puppies.

Today, the sun was out and the trampoline was set up.  What a great way to end piano lessons.

Oh BOY...

My 7 year old's baseball team almost didn't have a coach this year.  Days before practice was to start, parents were getting emails that no one had come forward to coach.  Just when we thought our team was doomed a mom came forward and said she would coach.  She's been a great coach.  My son had a great time on his first baseball team.
So, when I asked him how he would like to thank his coach today after the last game and I gave him various ideas like a card or maybe even flowers he said, "Mom, I don't want to get too complicated. How about I just go up to her and say thank you after the game."

What can I say...
He's a boy, I think it's genetic.

Bristol & Daisy

A rare sunny day today got us outside to the local dog park.
A tired dog is happy dog.
Making friends.

Getting a closer look... again.
A wee little dog to hold.
