I just had to make sure I had this documented in the blog. This just makes me grin.

We're Growing Things Around Here . . .
| These boys are growing! |
We started back up with Catechism learning and our Bible lessons. We are in the book of first Samuel.
We are still using the Picture Smart Bible and enjoying it. I color a page right along with the boys. We laugh about the silly faces we end up making as we try to draw facial features.
I didn't order their Math until last Friday, so it will be here next Friday. In the mean time I'm using other resources for Math review. Lots of math review to dust off their brains.
I'm really excited about our History this year. It's from the Beautiful Feet Publishing Company. The two younger boys are studying Early American History and the oldest is studying the history of California. Why you ask? Because last year he studied Washington State history and he loved it. When I gave him the choices for history this year he chose to study California.
GROWING OUR MINDS
These guides use quality youth and children's literature to teach a providential approach to principles in government as well as the stories of history. I really enjoy it and that's important because if I enjoy it I can transfer that energy to my kids.
This isn't a post about all the curriculum I'm using. I just wanted to share that one. One of my favorites!
Look what I did this summer!
I GREW a Vegetable/Fruit! Ha!
Roma tomatoes because it reminds my husband of his Grandparents. They are a little mealy inside. So I wonder.... have I left them on the vine too long or not long enough?

Camp - out . . .
Oh my goodness, my pictures from our Cub Scout camp out are so bad! I only took my iPhone and the lighting was not right. I'll post a couple pictures but then I'll give you a link to Renee's blog. She took great pictures! She has also taken my kids' Fall "school" pictures for the last two years.
I won't go into details about how this is the first real Cub Scout family camp out for our Pack. Or that Josh and I had to push for 2 years to get this on the Pack calendar. The process of scheduling this event was sped up last spring when our Pack received a letter that stated we had earned a free weekend at Fire Mountain because we, (I) had turned in the re-charter paperwork on time. I spent Spring and Summer thinking about and planning this outing with the help of Josh. It felt like we were reinventing the wheel. Our Pack simply hadn't done one before.
Thankfully Josh had recently done Scoutmaster training and Intro to Outdoor leadership skills training. In doing so, he learned a great way to cook breakfast for the masses. Boiled scrabbled eggs in bags.
Take a couple eggs, break them in bag, add some precooked ground sausage and shredded cheese. Seal it up and give in good shaky shake! Then drop it in the water for 15 minutes. Whala! Eat right out of the bag or empty it into a burrito. Simply awesome! We borrowed the 15 gallon crab cooking pot, the burner stand and a tank of propane to fuel it. Our breakfast for 45 included scrabbled eggs, tortillas, instant oatmeal, bagels and cream cheese and bananas.
Some of the highlights of our camping trip included, fishing, the campfire, hiking and BB gun shooting. I also really enjoyed sleeping in the 8 man bunks. The wood structure buildings held the heat of the day and I didn't freeze during the night!
Our group of 10 families had 14 scouts, 15 siblings, and 16 adults for a total of 45. I thought that was a great turn out!
I will stop torturing you now with my pictures. Go over to Renee's blog to see some great ones.
