I'm determined not to give up on art and have my kids think it's not any fun. For our recent project I brought out the washable tempura like paints and we played around with symmetry by folding the paper in half and squishing all the paint together.
My 10 year old also worked on a layered underwater scene. We had a book from the library called 1,2,3 paint. Pretty nice pictures that make you think it's easy to paint but it's still a multi step process that takes time.
I suppose that's the best lesson of all, art takes time and we must slow down to create it.
Our art is simple but they had fun and smiles were plentiful.
